A collaboration between Melange Interiors Pvt Ltd and Mathew & Ghosh Architects.
About the Project:
Featured on Arch Daily and Buildofy, the exterior of this unique house resembles an assemblage of concrete blocks cast in geometric shapes. Its palatial sparseness and predominantly grey colour palette feature minimal ornamentation aside from the outdoor greenery.
Award-winning residential interior design and construction firm Melange Interiors Pvt Ltd collaborated with Mathew & Ghosh Architects to design and create the interiors of this residence.
In line with the neutral theme, a palette of mixed materials, mainly metal, glass, wood, and steel, was used abundantly throughout the house.
The House of Stories’ elegant entrance is clad in grey cement, with strategic warm lighting illuminating the way in.
The grey concrete theme continues into the living room, where wood blends into the interior design. Here, dark-coloured furniture adds depth and modernity to the space.
A metal and glass bridge connects the living room with the library, appearing to be suspended mid-air above the living room.
Private areas, such as the bedrooms, library, and reading room, incorporate more natural wood in select areas to imbue them with warmth.
The bedroom’s plain cement walls are balanced with the adjoining desk area constructed in warm wood. Wall-to-wall windows let in swathes of natural light.
The reading room and library are constructed with teak wood in a rich, golden-brown hue. A floor-to-ceiling window provides views of the outside scenery.
Another part of the library features a glass wall overlooking the minimal metal stairway.
The elegant dining space features an impressive metal and wood lighting fixture that complements the geometric lines of the house’s interior architecture.
This House of Stories balances the cool, open living spaces in exposed cement and its cosy private quarters decked in natural wood. The interior design adds warmth, variety, and sophistication to the house while retaining its fundamental minimalism.
